Is it worth visiting??
Rajasthan is a state of India sub continent was
once the provincial capital of Indus valley civilization, one of the world
oldest civilization, is located along its north western borders, touching five
states of India from its three sides namely Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya
Pradesh and Gujrat along with Pakistan touching its western side and have a
welcoming Great Indian Desert (Thar desert) & the Aravalli range. This
state is known for its forts, palaces, colorful turbans, sandy dunes,
chilies & spices, artifacts, paintings and folk songs
& local dances. Since it touches the line of control of India-Pakistan,
therefore lots of para military forces can be seen along the bordering cities.
The main tourist base is Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Barmer, Sikar, Ajmer, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur and Mt. Abu. Rajasthan
is the only state of India which has such extreme climate, with temperature ranging
between 58 degrees in plains to -05 degrees in hills.
Entering
India
As the tourist lands at New Delhi airport
which is state of an art modern architecture
and one of the best five beautiful airports of the world, the tourist is guided
to their respective hotels on local transfers. After resting for a while the ever
awaited trip to the ever calling Rajasthan starts.
Mode of
transportations
There is bus route available at Bikaner house
in New Delhi located near India Gate. All kinds of buses are available inclusive
of Volvo services, deluxe seat en-coached
and sleeper buses too. Luxury trains are the best option
available, which starts from New Delhi railway station and covers most of the
cities of Rajasthan, but of course you have to shell out little bit more
dollars too. This train is run by RTDC-Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation
in association with Indian Railways & Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and
has all the luxuries and royalty that only a king can experience.
Routing to Rajasthan
The
palace on wheels luxury train consumes
7nights/8days, covering various major cities of north west India like New
Delhi, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur,
Bharatpur, Agra and Delhi. The entry
point and the first stop point by bus in Rajasthan for any foreign tourists via
New Delhi is Jaipur. City wise luxury buses
are also available at the bus station with and without prior reservations.
Jaipur
This pink
city of India has many heritage site, forts
and small forts lesser known to tourists, pink city having Hawa Mahal or Palace of
winds. Shopping, especially warm razai and artifacts is a good bet.
Jodhpur
Referred as Blue city, and boast of palaces
like Mehrangarh fort and Umaid
Bhawan Palace, some portion of which is under Taj Group of Hotels. Many
heritage properties can be seen within the main city itself.
Jaisalmer
It is nicknamed as Sun City, stands on the
ridge of yellow sandstone, crowned by fort and sandy dunes. Tourist can hire
hotel inside forts of various capacity and get a great view of the vast Thar desert. The shopping can be done
inside the fort. It is basically a walled township and mud fortress. Camel safaris and night stays in swiss
tents at the desert adds value to the trip. Lucky travelers can be a part of
the Desert festivals, held three days a year in January and February every year.
Desert National Park is also great
place to tour.
Bikaner
Junagarh
fort, Laxmi Nivas palace, Lalgarh palace and temples are some of
the places ideal for visit. International
Camel festival, Kapil Muni fair,
Karni Mata fair are the main
attractions. Famous for spicy snacks like dal moth, spices and edible oil largely known for it’s handicrafts and
leather products. Rajasthan State Archives is also a nice place to visit.
Barmer
Constitute a big part of the Thar desert,
famous for its hand carved wooden furniture
and hand block printing industries. It
is the best area describing the raw desert having decorated mud huts, complete desert life and simple village
folks. Famous for its oil wells source and have an underground air base.
Sikar
Once the
largest tikhana, has fine example of
frescoes in Raghunath, Madan Mohan and Gopinath temples.
Other places of interest are forts and
palaces, bawri (stepwell) and
Makrana Mahal. The city is well connected by road.
Ajmer
It
is the fifth largest city and a pilgrimage site for the shrine of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.
Surrounded by Aravali mountains. It is also the base of an ancient Hindu pilgrimage
city, Pushkar. Taragarh fort guards the city and is well connected by rail and
road.
Sawai
Madhopur
It’s
a planned city having Ranthambore National
Park situated just 11 kms from the main city. Local known dances are Ghoomar dance, Sawai Madhopur dance and
Kalbeliya dance. Siwad, Rameshwaram, Amareshwar Mahadeo, Khandar Fort, Bonli
Fort, Sapt-Kund, Bhagwatgarh and Charankya River are included in the excursion
Bharatpur
A
world heritage site declared by UNESCO, Keoladeo
National Park was the duck hunting reserve of the Maharaja, clouding major
winter birds from various parts of India including Siberia. Many bollywood films also has been filmed
here. We connected by rail and road, the tourist attractions are Lohagarh Fort,
Government Museum, Laxmi Vilas Palace, Golbagh Palace, Moti Mahal, Kishori
Mehal, Deeg Palace, Kaman (kamyavan) Palace and Bayana Fort.
Mount
Abu
Bordering
Gujrat in south, it is a poular hill station on the Aravali ranges located at 4,000
ft and referred as the oasis in the desert.
Winter is kool with chilly nights,
temperature even falls below zero. Summers are beautiful too. Achalgarh fort and Nakki lake are the popular tourist attractions. The only hill
station in Rajasthan houses the Mount
Abu Wildlife Sanctuary too.
